Welcome to the book publishing industry 🎉
This project explores a Goodreads book dataset and an International Bestsellers dataset through questions of authorship, geography, language, publishing, and gender representation.
Instead of reading the dataset as a static table, each visualization gives you a different way to move through it: compare groups, follow changes over time, filter the library, or look for the categories where the patterns become surprising.
These vizualisations where build with the following questions in mind:
- What are the most published voices, where do they come from ?
- Is there a correlation between gender and genres ?
- Is there a discrepancy in the way books are rated depending on the author’s gender ?
- Is there a discrepancy between male/female authors across nationality ?
- What is the language distribution of published books?
By building the different views of the datasets we have found different ways to explore and answer these questions. We invite you to come to your own conclusions by exploring our visualizations!
